Description
Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, provides the newest medical technology in a healing environment. It is the most comprehensive facility of its kind on the Virginia Peninsula. This short-term acute care hospital with 300 beds is a voluntary nonprofit and a member of Riverside Health System. The hospital features a neonatal intensive care unit with 21 beds and neonatologists located on-site.

Responsibilities:
·Pre-anesthesia assessment
·Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
·Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
·Induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia
·Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
·Performance of clinical intervention as needed
Requirements
·Holds a current license as a registered professional nurse and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing
·Graduation from a program of nurse anesthesia education accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) or its predecessor
·Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification, or initial certification or recertification:
oMeets requirements above and is awaiting on initial certification; or
oIs currently certified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or it predecessor; or
oIs currently recertified by the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
