Full-Time CRNA Opportunity - $190/hour (1099) - Variety of Cases - Loose Supervision
Valley Baptist Regional Medical Center - Brownsville, TX
We are seeking CRNAs to join the anesthesia team at Valley Baptist Regional Medical Center, a 240-bed Level III Trauma and teaching hospital serving the Brownsville and Rio Grande Valley region. This opportunity offers a strong and consistent surgical volume, a broad case mix including OB, and a collaborative, loosely supervised practice model that supports CRNA autonomy with physician backup when needed.
Schedule and Compensation:
CRNAs are offered full-time (PRN may be available) schedules with a mix of 8-hour and 10-hour shifts, averaging approximately 45.2 hours per week over 2,080 annual hours across 46 working weeks. Compensation is $190 per hour on a 1099 basis. Weekly overtime and all call-back hours are paid at $190 per hour. Call is shared and compensated as follows:
• Weekday call: $600 per shift + $190/hr for call-back time
• Weekend call: $1,000 per shift + $190/hr for call-back time
OB 24-hour shifts are also available and include access to a dedicated call room with bed and shower.
Estimated annual compensation is approximately $395k with no call to around $460k+ with moderate call participation, depending on call taken.
Sign-on and retention bonuses are available for eligible candidates, based on contract tier and commitment.
Case Mix and Patient Population:
Valley Baptist Regional Medical Center supports a high-volume surgical service line with approximately 9,000 cases annually. Case types include General Surgery, GI, OB, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, Urology, Neuro, and some Cardiac cases, with very limited Dental and Plastics. The hospital averages ~2,400 deliveries per year, with ~90% epidural utilization and approximately 1,100 C-sections annually, providing consistent OB exposure without overwhelming volume.
Practice Model and Workflow:
This is a collaborative anesthesia care model with loose supervision, allowing CRNAs to practice with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining physician support as needed. The hospital operates 12 operating rooms, currently staffing 11, creating steady volume and a predictable workflow within a teaching hospital environment. This model is designed to support long-term sustainability and clinician satisfaction rather than short-term coverage.
