Does Clinical Practice Refresh award Class A credits?
Yes! The Clinical Practice Refresh awards Class A credits.
Although most Class A credit providers charge nearly the same prices, some providers give you more credits than others.

This is important – the NBCRNA must officially recognize MAC Ed programs before a provider may offer them for sale. Some providers may offer MAC “Prep,” but they are NOT eligible for Class A credits unless the NBCRNA officially recognizes them.

What's the purpose of the Clinical Practice Refresh course?
The Clinical Practice Refresh course serves two primary functions:
- They keep your clinical practice up-to-date by providing you with the current evidence-based practice trends.
- They help you earn Class A credits required by the MAC program.
Not all courses are created equally! The quality, content, and Class A credits associated with MAC Ed courses are determined by each provider. As CRNAs ourselves, APEX prides itself on content that prepares you for the test, and real-world applications.
What are the software and hardware requirements to use APEX?
You can access APEX from your computer, tablet, and smartphone. You can start on one device and pick up where you left off on another device.
- Consistent minimum internet connection with a speed of 1.5 Mbps (10-25 Mbps for video).
- Modern browser that has been updated within the last 12 months and has cookies and JavaScript enabled. Supported browsers include: Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari.
Note: Browsers that are outdated or unsupported, such as older versions of Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or lesser-known browsers like Opera, may operate without issues but are not guaranteed to work seamlessly and are not supported. Certain operating environments, such as Linux, may also function but are not officially supported.
How does the Clinical Practice Refresh differ from CPC Core Modules?
CPC Core Modules were previously used to streamline CRNAs’ ability to collect Class A credits while meeting Continued Professional Certification (CPC) requirements. In 2024, the certifying board NBCRNA discontinued the CPC program and replaced it with the Maintaining Anesthesia Certification (MAC) program.

Our Clinical Practice Refresh helps CRNAs streamline these updated requirements. Those who purchased a CPC Core Modules Bundle from APEX prior to March 2026 will see some overlap in content with the Clinical Practice Refresh, as many requirements remained the same. However, the Clinical Practice Refresh offers 30 Class A credits, rather than the historical 23, and the course has been reworked to include the most up-to-date information. Another big difference in the Clinical Practice Refresh product is that each post-test stands alone and awards 2 CE credits upon completion, offering learners greater flexibility and incremental credit earning.
